Have you ever wondered, “What if a cat could jump like Mario?” No? Well, who would have thought of that? But trust me, a guy named Aron Kramer did, and that’s how Super Milo Adventures was born. Unlike most other “cat” games that just involve raising a cat and watching it, Super Milo Adventures is a true platformer, where you have to control Milo the cat to jump, avoid obstacles, and solve mind-bending puzzles that are no different from classic games.
Introduce about Super Milo Adventures
Super Milo Adventures is a retro platformer that has just opened for pre-registration on Android and iOS. Developed by Aron Kramer, who has over 10 years of experience in the industry and worked on the soundtrack for the Metroidvania game “Cathedral”, Super Milo Adventures promises to be an enjoyable experience for players. The game takes place in a vibrant pixel-art world that combines classic platforming with interesting puzzles.
Auto-jump mechanism
One of the most interesting features of Super Milo Adventures is the auto-jump system. Normally, if you have played legendary platformers like Mario or Mega Man, you will be familiar with pressing buttons to jump at the right time. But with Milo, it jumps automatically.
Sounds like a difficult game to control, right? And it is. You have no control over when Milo jumps, you can only swipe or tap to affect the environment. That means if there is a hole ahead, you have to calculate exactly when to interact with the environment to help Milo get through, you can’t just click randomly to “save yourself” like in normal games.
There are sections where you have to break a wall at the right moment to clear a path for Milo. There are also times when you have to activate a mechanism to push the character to the right safe jumping angle. Because of the limited controls, the game creates a strange and challenging gameplay, forcing you to adapt in a completely different way.
Super Milo Adventures has puzzles similar to Lemmings
If you’ve ever played Lemmings, a legendary game where you have to help a bunch of lemmings overcome obstacles by changing their surroundings, then you’ll immediately find that Super Milo Adventures has a similar feel.
It’s not all about running and jumping, many levels require you to carefully observe the layout, see where you can interact, and when is the right time to perform a certain action. One wrong step? Milo will plummet into the pit like a cat with low blood pressure.
This makes the game much more difficult than the normal platformers we often encounter, but that is also what makes it attractive. When you pass a level after dozens of tries, the feeling of accomplishment is no less than when you defeat the boss in a soulslike game!
Skin system
Another cool thing about Super Milo Adventures is that you can unlock different skins for Milo. Just think, you can turn this bouncing cat into an astronaut cat, a ninja cat, or even a cat transformed into some familiar 8-bit character. While there isn’t a full list of skins yet, given the pixel art style of the game, there’s a good chance that there will be some cool and funny outfits. Let’s see what Aron Kramer has in store for us.
Support items
Jumping around alone can be boring, so Super Milo Adventures also has a support item system to help you turn things around. In the game, there will be items scattered along the way that, if you know how to take advantage of them, you can turn a level from “red alert” to “easy as pie”.
For example, there are spring pads that let Milo bounce higher than normal, opening up shortcuts that would never be reached by just jumping the default way. Or there are gravity switches that let you flip the world upside down, making Milo run on the ceiling instead of the ground.
Not to mention some special items, like energy balls that temporarily increase movement speed, or even a shield that makes Milo immune to obstacles for a few seconds. These are things that help the gameplay not get boring, because each level can have many ways to overcome if you know how to take advantage of the right support items.
Challenge Mode
If you find the regular Super Milo Adventures difficult enough, then don’t worry, because the game also has a Challenge Mode.
In this mode, you will have to overcome special levels with much higher difficulty, there may be no checkpoints, traps appear twice as often, or Milo will have to move continuously without stopping, forcing you to think extremely quickly.
Imagine a normal level can take 10 minutes to pass, in this mode, you can die more than ten times in just one minute if you are not careful. But this is also the attractive point of the game. It is challenging but not unfair, making you want to try again and again until you overcome it.
Update content by “episode”
Instead of releasing a complete game from the get-go, Super Milo Adventures plans to update the game in episodes. This means that the game will be constantly updated with new levels, new challenges, and possibly new characters or gameplay mechanics. If the developers keep their promise, this will be a game that will last a long time, not just be beaten in a few hours and then deleted. It’s definitely worth the wait!

If you like retro platformers with quirky mechanics, like creative puzzles, and want a simple yet challenging game, then Super Milo Adventures is worth checking out. It’s definitely not your typical “run and jump” game, but rather an interesting mix of platforming, puzzles, and a little strategy. Plus, if the game is actually updated regularly, there should be plenty of new content to explore in the future.
